Why should a person carry Renter's Insurance if they don't have much stuff or money? Renter's Insurance not only provides coverage for you and your family's personal belongings but it provides you/family with LIABILITY. Liability is the most important part of the policy, in other words if you/family injure someone, cause damage to the home/apartment or residence you are renting you will be held responsible. The majority of apartment complexes will not turn over the key to an apartment until they have PROOF of Renter's Insurance.
Another reason is, if there is a fire/tornado and the building is damaged the Renter Policy will provide additional funds for temporary living while find another place to rent. Renter's insurance is fairly inexpensive, $100 to $350/year for a $20,000 Contents policy with $300,000 liability.....plus companies like SAFECO or PROGRESSIVE give a package policy discount. Finally anyone who lives with a non-relative should have a Renter's Insurance Policy. The amount of contents/personal property coverage is up to each policyholder to decide. In other words if lost everything to fire/tornado how much money do you need to re-purchase clothing, furniture, computers, dishes etc? It's that easy, any other questions about renters insurance please contact Flanigan Insurance Agency at 314-727-6000.
